Dr. Janine Oliver

Position: Associate Veterinarian

Background:  Dr. Janine Oliver graduated from North Carolina State University College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and from the School of Physical Therapy at East Carolina
University in 1987. She practiced human physical therapy for 12 years prior to pursuing her
studies in veterinary medicine, focusing on neurology and geriatrics. While in veterinary
school, Dr. Oliver worked as an ICU technician in the intensive/critical care unit of the
Veterinary Teaching Hospital at NC State. She devoted extra time during veterinary school
to studying companion animal physical rehabilitation and multi-modal pain management,
veterinary nutrition, and veterinary dentistry. Dr. Oliver has worked in both an integrative
general practice and in emergency medicine. Her interests lie heavily in prevention, nutrition,
emergency/critical care, and in improving quality of life for geriatric animals through pain
management and physical rehabilitation. She is currently pursuing advanced training in
veterinary nutrition at NC State University with their Veterinary Clinical Nutrition Service.

Hobbies: Dr. Oliver enjoys spending time with her family, Audra, Patrick and their 4 dogs
and 2 cats, gourmet cooking, wine tasting, particularly the reds, traveling and spending time
outdoors hiking, camping and rafting. She also loves to read, especially science fiction,
Greensboro’s local talent Orson Scott Card is among her favorite authors.

Pets:  Zorro, a 10 year old chihuahua; Bunny, a chihuahua-pitbull mix; Jasper, a
chihuahua-beagle mix; Spock, a black lab-great dane mix; EllenDegeneres, a dilute tortie
cat and her son Barney a dilute orange tabby.
