Alisa Hunter

Position: Veterinary Care Team

Background: I have been in the veterinary field since Feb 2005, and have enjoyed it
ever since. I am currently going into my last year as a pre-vet student and preparing to attend Veterinary
Medical School at NC State or Tuskegee University. For as long as I can remember, I have had a true passion
for animals, and the experiences that I have gained from working with them have been worth every bit of time
it takes for me to obtain my degree in this field. I always had animals growing up, including dogs, cats, and
hamsters. It is a pleasure working at Happy Tails VEC. This gives me an opportunity to not only enhance my
skills, but to also save an animal’s life with emergency care.

Hobbies: My hobbies include being a full-time student, staying in my books, and reading up on the
latest technology in veterinary medicine. I also brush up on my art skills when I get the chance. I enjoy almost
anything that has to do with being outdoors (nature, motorcycles, the lake, traveling). I am also a member of
Vision’s Outreach Ministries, where I sing soprano on the Praise Team. Yes, I lead a busy life! I’m in numerous
clubs on campus, but a very special one is of course the Pre-Vet club for animal science and Vet students.

Pets: I currently have one pet, my dog, LuLu. She is a Pug-Boston terrier mix. She is a one year old,
21 pound, a brindle striped beauty. I adopted Lulu when her previous owner became very allergic and had to give
her up. Just as you would find your perfect match in a mate, I believe it can be the same way for an animal. I took
her for a walk and we connected instantly. I said, “This is the dog that I am going to take home.” As time progresses,
I plan on getting LuLu certified in citizenship so that she can go visit the elderly and small children. She has
impressive skills in dog tricks that I believe the public would enjoy just as much as I do.
